NAME : Field Guide to the Mammals of the Indian Subcontinent
AUTHORS : K.K. Gurung, Raj Singh PUBLISHERS : Academic Press Natural
World
PRICE : $15.00
**Actually a field guide, this book happens to be the only current
pointer to mammals of the Indian subcontinent. Containing short
descriptions of over a 100 large mammals of the region, the book
also covers 23 major national parks and reserves. Location maps,
visiting details and species list make it worth reading. However,
one gets the feeling that had the book had more on the lesser conspicuous
mammals of the region, it would have made much more interesting
reading. All in all, an informative guide to mammals of the Indian
subcontinent with descriptions of behaviour, identification, diet,
breeding, status etc.
NAME : Horses Never Lie : The Heart of Passive Leadership
AUTHOR : Mark Rashid
PRICE : $16.00
**The author is an acknowledged and respected horse trainer and
clinician, who has been working with horses from the age of ten.
Horses are his passion. He has travelled extensively around the
world lecturing on popular remedies to horse problems which have
found universal acclaim. ‘Horses Never Lie’, which
is Mark Rashid’s third book on horses, stresses the importance
and advantages of “passive leadership” over “aggressive
domination” in the matter of dealing with horses. The fact
that the book is not a training manual but more of an anecdotal
and emotional compilation of true events makes it informative and
entertaining.
