Rabbi Shergill :

He has been likened to Bob Dylan, called a bard, and commissioned to perform at the World Social Forum in Brazil. Rabbi Shergill’s eponymous first album, with the hymn-like Bulla Ki Janna (based on the 18th century Sufi poet Baba Bulle Shah’s verse), had his early audience in the persons of Sir Naipaul, Amitabh Bachchan, and the Tehelka crew, that recognized a good thing when they heard one. Now, of course, everybody’s latched on to the good thing. Before he made it big the hard way, Rabbi was offered a place with the reputed Berklee College of Music, Boston, and The Guitars Institute of Technology, California, but was declined a visa thrice. Just as well for a country starved for novelty.
