White Noise :
Director : Vinta Nanda
Cast : Koel Purie, Rahul Bose.
Women
come in two categories in Mumbai cinema: dull doormats and
sex
kittens on speed. Rarely does Mumbai cinema
like to show a woman who is groping her way through life
or even
having sex outside marriage and loving it. Well, trust Vinta
Nanda to fix that. The writer of Tara did much so shatter
some myths about that women want to watch on TV. In Koel
Purie, she finds an actor to match her predilection
for pain. Even if she is given some bummer lines, she creates
a
woman who is not afraid to give as good as she gets. She hurls
abuse, quaffs wine by the bottle, assaults her ex-lover
and
gets assaulted-all the while wearing some very stylish clothes.
As for Nanda’s edgy account of the world of soap-from
chain smoking TV mothers-in-law to leering channel executives-she
has it down pat. But can someone please give Rahul Bose a role
where he does not have to be an appropriately sensitive,
New
Age guy?
