The Garden Retreat intially called the Baker’s house was build by George Alfred Baker, an Essex missionary on the banks of the Vembanad lake, the backwaters that stretches Southward from Cochin for more than 70 miles. It was home for the Bakers for four generations. Since 1992 this property has been taken over by the Taj Group of Hotels still maintaining its old world charm. The property is accessible both by road and water. The retreat offers three types of rooms- Standard rooms, Cottages and Deluxe rooms having different tariffs.

22 rooms. All rooms elegantly appointed, air-conditioned with international direct dial facility, channel music, colour television with satellite programmes.
Standard Rooms : Choose from rooms in the Baker’s Bungalow (Old World), in the house boats anchored in the water.
Deluxe Room : Old World room in the Baker’s Bungalow.
Cottages : 10 rooms, including 1 Deluxe Cottage Room and 3 Deluxe Rooms facing the pool.

Dining :

Dining Room : Serves Indian, Continental and local cuisine. Open from 7 a.m. to 10.30 p.m.
