Demons of Chitrakut, Ashok K. Banker
:
In the author’s third installment of his new-millennium
version of the classical Ramayana epic there’s more sorcery
with demons and great balls of fire hurled through the air. After
vanquishing lord of Lanka Ravana’s asura hordes, Rama, prince
of Ayodhya, is on his way home with his new bride Sita and their
entourage.
A slight hiccup stalls them: The as-yet undefeated
brahmin Parsurama has a bone to pick. There’s also much
witchcraft as evil hag Manthara, Ravana’s crony spy, works
out a plan to banish Rama in exile for 14 years. After much upset
throughout the kingdom, he along with Sita and brother Lakshman
take the hill of Chitrakut as their new home, where nothing less
than more adventure awaits.
Brief : If your
grandmother first regaled you with the epic when you were young,
get set to relive the experience. Penguin, Rs 350 |
